The Space Brunswick
Transforming 'The Space Brunswick' with Sound Capture Acoustic Panels
Client Background: 'The Space Brunswick' recently underwent a major renovation with the intention of utilising the space for various purposes, including workshops, podcast recordings, content creation, boardroom meetings, and general gatherings. However, the reflective surfaces of the room, consisting of plaster walls, plywood walls, wooden cladding, a corrugated ceiling, and engineered floorboards, resulted in an excessively reverberant environment. The high reverberation time (RT) of over 4 seconds rendered the room unsuitable for its intended purposes.
Client's Challenge: The challenge was to reduce the reverberation time in the room to a target RT of 0.4 seconds, making it conducive for the diverse activities the owners planned for the space.
Sound Capture's Assessment: Upon assessment, Sound Capture identified the need for comprehensive acoustic treatment. Recognising the highly reflective nature of every surface in the room, the team proposed a solution that involved strategically placing 16 full broadband frequency 1200x600 mm acoustic panels suspended from the ceiling and an additional 6 panels on the walls around the podcast area.
Proposed Solution: To achieve the desired acoustic balance, Sound Capture recommended the installation of 16 ceiling-suspended panels and 6 wall-mounted panels. Considering the existing furnishings, including a large Persian rug and other furniture with specific absorption coefficients, the goal was to create an acoustic environment that met the RT target of 0.4 seconds.
Client Approval and Collaboration: The owners were impressed with Sound Capture's proposal and eagerly accepted the recommendations. With the client's approval, Sound Capture proceeded to manufacture the custom acoustic panels tailored to the specifications of 'The Space Brunswick.'
Manufacturing and Installation: Sound Capture's team efficiently manufactured the panels and initiated the installation process, which took only one day. Using their unique and discreet ceiling hanging system, the team ensured precision in panel placement. The use of laser technology guaranteed straight and accurate positioning.
Outcome and Success: Following the installation, Sound Capture conducted a comprehensive measurement of the room's acoustics. The results showcased a remarkable transformation, achieving the targeted RT of 0.4 seconds. The room was now well-suited for workshops, podcast recordings, content creation, boardroom meetings, and various other activities.
Customer Service Excellence: Sound Capture's commitment to customer satisfaction was evident throughout the project. The team provided expert consultation, delivered a customised solution, and executed the installation seamlessly. The clients were not only satisfied with the acoustic transformation but also impressed by the professionalism and efficiency displayed by Sound Capture.
Conclusion: Sound Capture's intervention successfully turned 'The Space Brunswick' into a versatile, acoustically balanced environment, meeting the diverse needs of its owners. This case study demonstrates Sound Capture's expertise in acoustic consultation, manufacturing, and installation, showcasing a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service and achieving tangible results.
